At our last Lunch'n'Learn, we heard some great strategies to improve our productivity with Outlook. Here's one more: I've been using an Outlook add-in called SimplyFile for several years and simply can't live without it. It watches your email filing habits and learns where would typically file an email message from a particular person or with a common subject line. It then automagically prompts for this Outlook folder as the default location to file the message. When you send messages, it prompts you to simply send the message or to also file the original message in the Outlook folder at the same time. No more looking in the Sent folder for that email -- it's right there with the original message in the folder you specify and your Inbox is cleaner too!
Check it out and start saving time every day filing your email.
I am migrating from Outlook for Windows to Outlook for Mac, and am looking for add-ins (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins, whatever name they might go by) that will add to the functionality of the program. There are TONS of add-ins that work with Windows. Does anyone know of any lists of add-ins -- or even just names of single add-ins?

Mark BTW, here are the functions that I would find most useful: 1. Save attachment and replace with link to saved file [reduces OST/PST size] (like EZDetach or Attachments Processor) 2. File message in most likely folder, or choose from likely folders as well as those matching typed-in characters (like SimplyFile) 3. Bayesian spam filter (like SpamBayes). Currently there is no support for plug-ins in Outlook for Mac', and AFAIK there has been no indication that Microsoft will add this support option. There are ways to add functionality to Outlook via AppleScript.
Currently scripts are very limited in Outlook where Entourage had an extensive library of free scripts. You can download scripts from these links: • • BTW, here are the functions that I would find most useful: 1. Save attachment and replace with link to saved file [reduces OST/PST size] (like EZDetach or Attachments Processor) The previous script in Entourage that did this is broken in Outlook at this time. I don't have an option to suggest.
Maybe we'll hear from another user that has discovered a way to do this. File message in most likely folder, or choose from likely folders as well as those matching typed-in characters (like SimplyFile) Outlook has no function to archive to OST or PST. You can drag a folder to the Desktop to save as.mbox file. This saves the data but to use you have to import back into Outlook. The pros on this format is it's generic and most email clients will import.

It's even cross platform. You might like these scripts to move messages but the Move icon in the ribbon might be all you need. • File in Sub-Folder v:1.0 [2010-10-22] Takes the currently selected messages, creates a sub-folder using a name that you choose, then moves the messages into the sub-folder. • File Messages by Year v:1.0 [2010-10-14] Takes the currently selected messages, creates a sub-folder using a name that you choose, then moves the messages into the sub-folder.
There are third party applications like Eaglefiler and DevonThink Pro that archive messages. If you have FileMaker Pro, you might like this app: 3. Bayesian spam filter (like SpamBayes) This one is easy. Get SpamSieve. Send Feedback Be sure to let Microsoft you would like to see these features added by sending them feedback (via the Send Feedback command in Outlook’s Help menu) The more reports they get the higher it gets on the list to be fixed or added.
