It seems Skype is having a serious memory leak on OSX 10.12.5. Skype freezes the system when in use for a couple of hours, activity monitor shows Skype is using up to 53GB of memory at that point and all you can do is force quit Skype to get your computer to work again. The error given by OSX is that programs are paused because the computer is out of memory. My computer is a late 2016 model Macbook Pro (TouchBar), running OSX 10.12.5 and the latest version of Skype.
Installing the previous version of Skype does not solve the problem, we have tried this to see if it will fix the issue. After a long search with Apple technicians (to exclude any other possible reasons), the only thing that could possibly cause this is Skype, which we thought was causing this in the first place. I am using the newest OS and the newest version of Skype. If anyone could help with this problem, I'd be very glad. Skype because inoperable and it slows (and crashes) the whole system. Kind regards.
Nov 22, 2018 One of our employee in China is still using Mac 10.8.5, because the China Great Firewall, the Internet connection speed is too slow. We need to make group conference call, so she is always using a Skype for iPhone version. Outlook 2011 for Mac - KU IT recommends that all Mac users who are. MacMail - Mac users who are running Mac OS 10.5.4 and 10.6 can also use MacMail.
This is the thread I started on the 'old' forum which - without any notification - just moved. It would have been nice to have a heads up on this Microsoft folks. I find it interesting to see that someone just copied my exact message under his/her own name!!! To start the same thread on this new location (which in my opinion is a downgrade from where we came from and looks horrible). You cannot just copy someone else's content.
At least have the decency to quote my text or mention the source. Shame on you! As this is an ongoing thread about an important issue, I don't understand why not all of the recent threads and their replies were migrated as well.
For my original thread see:. My update to that/this thread I started would be: The latest update (7.5.3) is another update that doesn't resolve the problem that has been a permanent issue since March. At first someone from the Skype team replied, i send the details asked for after which it went completely silent on their end. Anyone actually looking in to this?
Free 3d cad software for mac. I'm having the same issue. I recently migrated from a 2015 13' MBP to a 2016 13' model with the touch bar and I'm getting the same memory leak after being in a call for a while. Skype's video then freezes and its memory usage goes up until OSX 'pauses' it. I then need to restart Skype to get it back to normal memory usage.
The MacBook Pro's specs are: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) 3,3 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Intel Iris Graphics 550 1536 MB MacOS Sierra 10.12.4 (16E195) and it has the touch bar. I did not have this problem with the 2015' MBP without touch bar. Skype Version is 7.53.
