A huge collection of Mastering software - freeware, shareware, and demos - that you can download for free. Platforms include Windows, Mac and Linux. A lot of people say that there are no free programs for Mac OS but this list of free scanning software (some are not but almost) says otherwise. Document scanning software helps you create a computer copy of any physical document.

I use Cubase to premaster my stuff now by importing stems into a new project and 'gluing' it altogether. I've started leaving a couple decibels headroom in the limiting stage to allow for last minute corrections in whatever program I am using for format conversion. It's also important to check your mix in mono as well to gauge whether it will translate well onto other playback systems.

For a professional Mac solution look at for Bias Peak 6. Also you have Magix Samplitude but I don't think they support Mac's as yet. I noticed in this thread that there seems to be an attitude here that maybe waveburner isn't up to the task of handling pro mastering projects. Why might that be, if anyone has reservations about it could they please share and explain them?I like Waveburner and have used it for years for demo stuff.

Sometimes there’s a grey border. Apple have changed the details a few times. Exactly how this works varies depending on which version of OS X that you have. If you don’t get it right the 2 files will not merge. Sometimes there’s a green plus sign to indicate the merge. Combine pdf files for mac.

The two big things that keep it from being a professional level mastering app are the lack of an I/O plugin that would allow inserting hardware devices in your processing chain, and the lack of export to a DDP fileset. There's other niggly stuff like export of EDL's and such too. That doesn't mean it's not a great app for what it's made for, ie throwing good demos together.
